Nubble Light Challenge Swim (2.4 mi)

The NUBBLE LIGHT CHALLENGE is back! This year's swim will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:30AM. The swim is a 2.4 mile swim race around the Nubble and through "the gut" located between the mainland and the island (see photos). The Nubble Light Challenge has been ranked in the top 50 best open water swims in the U.S.

IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR 2017:  Open Water Swim Buoys must be worn by ALL swimmers. Information on where to purchase the buoys will be provided. 

Awards will be given the top overall 3 finishers as well as the top 3 finishers in each age group. Awards will also be given to the top fundraisers.

A catered lunch and awards ceremony will be held following the swim at the York Beach ball field located one block from Short Sands Beach.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Maine Chapter of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI provides educational programs to the public and emergency service workers and support to families that are directly affected by mental illness. www.namimaine.org

NAMI also educate schools and community agencies on how to identifying the symptoms and early warnings signs of mental illness.
