USMS Profile

I was surprised and honored to be selected for the Contributor class. Masters Swimming has been an important part of my life for a very long time, both while living in the United Kingdom and in the United States.  I’m extremely grateful to the pioneers who built our sport and community from its origins in the 60s and 70s, and I can only guess at the many millions of hours that those pioneers and their successors have devoted to developing our sport since that time.

I was happy to find opportunities to “give back” in recent years to support my club, the New England LMSC, and USMS, but my contributions feel quite modest in comparison to the many wonderful volunteers, coaches, administrators, race directors, and others who are the lifeblood of our community. I also want to recognize the many members who make rich grassroots contributions to our community in a quiet and informal way as lane leaders, group swim organizers, relay wranglers, and so on. My sincere thanks to the New England LMSC Board and Hall of Fame Subcommittee for this honor.
